Duties and responsibilities
The assistant role will work alongside a Streetz Ahead Teacher, be a dance captain and therefore know the choreography at all times. The description for this role is listed below.
- Make sure the room is set up, including mirrors and speakers if needed.
- Be the first point of contact when students arrive.
- Take the register.
- Help with first aid issues if required.
- Make sure you are aware of where the children are at all times, if they leave the room for any reason, accompany them to the toilet and wait outside or to fill up their water bottle.
- Walk among the students as your teacher leads the class, making corrections, assisting a struggling dancer, or regaining the attention of students who become unfocussed or not following instructions.
- Keep an eye out for potential hazards like untied shoelaces, bags or coats on the floor, open windows etc or poor spacing/awareness while children are dancing.
- Be a source of positive and enthusiastic energy in the class
- Keep students on task and focused.
- Offer encouragement to dance students during the class.
- Learn, Lead or participate in choreography/dances.
- Work seamlessly with your teacher by anticipatinghis/her needs so that together you can provide a fun and supportive learning environment for younger dancers.
- Lead the warmup, especially if the dance teacher is running late for any reason.
- You are the dance captain so you must remember the choreography in case you have to stand in for the dance teacher at any point.
- Please return mirrors and speakers if needed.
Online training can be provided in first aid & safeguarding.

BACK STAGE MANAGEMENT
